Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A serious road accident took place today on National Highway 117, near the Namkhana Seemabandh bus stop, involving a group of five tourists traveling from Kolkata to Bakkhali. The incident occurred around 11 a.m. when the vehicle, a four-wheeler, suddenly lost control and crashed into a stationary container along the side of the road. The impact of the collision caused extensive damage to the vehicle, and the sound of the crash alerted nearby residents.
Local residents immediately responded and rushed to the scene of the accident. They managed to rescue the five individuals, including the driver, who were trapped in the mangled vehicle. The injured were then quickly transported to Kakdwip Subdivisional Hospital for medical treatment. According to hospital authorities, one of the victims, whose identity has not been confirmed, died from injuries sustained during the accident. The remaining four individuals were reported to be in critical condition and are undergoing treatment.
The accident resulted in a temporary block on National Highway 117, causing significant traffic disruption. Local police from Kakdwip arrived at the scene shortly after the crash and began clearing the wreckage. The two vehicles involved in the accident were removed from the highway, allowing traffic to resume. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the crash, and the identities of the injured tourists are yet to be revealed. The condition of the four surviving victims remains critical, and further updates are awaited.
